How it Works

This tool removes encryption layers from your PDF files:

Decryption: Uses your provided password to unlock and rewrite the document.
Integrity: Removes restrictions (printing/copying) while preserving all original content.
Privacy: Files are processed securely and deleted shortly after your download.

Common Use Cases

Unlock PDFs for easier access and editing:

Easy Access: Create an unprotected version to open without typing passwords every time.
Editing & Extraction: Enable text selection and modifications on locked documents.
Sharing: Send documents to others without needing to share your private password.

Limitations & Security

Cannot crack unknown passwords: If the password is unknown or incorrect, the tool cannot proceed.
Encryption strength: Modern PDF encryption is strong; this tool simply applies the known password to decrypt; it does not break encryption.
Quota: File size is limited (typically 25MB) to prevent server overload.
Policy: Do not upload sensitive personal or confidential documents to an online service unless you trust it. We don't log files, but internet transit carries inherent risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tool supports standard PDF encryption algorithms (RC4, AES) as implemented by common PDF producers. If the PDF uses newer encryption and PyPDF2 supports it, it will work. Extremely old or proprietary encryption methods may not be supported.

Absolutely. Once the PDF is decrypted with the correct password, all usage restrictions (printing, copying, editing) are also lifted. The output is a fully unrestricted, unprotected PDF file.

The size may change slightly because the encryption metadata is removed, but the content remains the same. In most cases the difference is negligible (a few kilobytes at most). The output file will be similar in size to the original unprotected version.

This version handles one PDF at a time to keep the interface simple. For bulk processing, you'd need a desktop application or script using PyPDF2. You can use this tool sequentially for multiple files.
